Frequently Asked Locksmith Questions
When our technician performs a rekey service he/she is leaving all the original hardware on the lock intact, but takes out the tumbler to manipulate the pins within. By rearranging these pins, the lock will no longer accept the key that was previously used. Once the pins are put in order and matched to a new key, the tumbler is placed back inside the lock. This service can also be performed to match multiple locks to all take the same key, so you’ll never have to fumble with a huge key ring again. One of our most popular services is the rekey, because it provides the same security as a lock change at a cheaper price.
